NDT can undertake positive material identification (PMI) using Niton's
XLt 898s portable alloy analysers. These instruments employ XRF (X-Ray
Fluorescence) technology to positively identify materials in construction
and fabrication applications.
SPI NDT currently operates four PMI units and regularly undertakes PMI on pipework, fittings and weld materials. We are able to service all requirements in all regions nationally. The identification of elements such as Cr, Ni, Mo, Ma, Fe, Al, Ti, v, Cu, Zn etc allows for the confirmation of material grades and alloys at both site and shop locations.
